There are two adjustments that they will be making from the prototype to the model that will be released to the public- I know this because although the body of the chair seems to fit the width of my body size, as it reclines it doesn't seem to extend out the leg ottoman enough to accommodate my 5'10" frame. Also, my toes are sticking out the front well.
Traditionally found in all Inada massage chairs that I love is that the massage starts with the rollers going from my upper back down very low to the sacral area. They have very long back track lengths. With the extended length it feels as if it is doing a complete job working the muscles along the entire length of my spine!
This Inada doctors choice 3a massage chair has a neck pillow similarly shaped to the travel neck pillows that fully support the head and neck. If a user wanted to get a great neck massage they would need to move this out of the way, as it obstructs being able to feel the rollers in the neck musculature. The only thing that I don't like about this positioning is that it does tend to push the shoulder blades medially and therefore sometimes the rollers will run right over them. This can be an uncomfortable feeling. It also has unique technology that has designed it to focus on joint mobilization of the spine and allows for movement in those vertebrae as the muscles relax. It has air cells that inflate and reach around the shoulder girdle to hold the body in place as the rollers arch the back to create that passive movement in the spine.
The air cell compression on the lower leg and feet felt great. The inflation was at the perfect level, not too hard, not too soft. The reflexology plates in the foot wells felt great as well. The rollers give a strong, firm massage integrating the many massage modalities, which I enjoy. This seems to really relax all of the overworked back muscles.
Sometimes it's just nice to know how much time you have left, in case you have other things calling for your attention, so it would have been nice to have a time on the remote. I ran the Full Body program, which is the first of several auto programs that this chair features.
The Inada doctors choice 3a massage chair has another wonderful attribute and that is the massaging gel hand sleeves. This is a very unique feature that I have not seen on any other massage chairs. It fits snugly around your hands and almost feels like a neoprene sleeve that your hands are encased in but then when you start the chair up it starts doing a very soothing, relaxing kneading on the front and back of your hand. It feels wonderful and for anybody that struggles with arthritis or achy stiff hands, you will love this benefit!
Once again Inada has put their attention into the functionality of massage instead of into fluff features that are just for marketing purposes. They have succeeded in reaching their goal of this chair being more a "chiropractic-esque" chair! I feel that overall this is a very effective massage chair. Inada massage chairs definitely live up to their reputation!
