The tussles, relationships, hatred, love and journey in the path of life of some young teenage high school boys and girls are dramatized in the series called One Tree Hill launched in WB. The story is about two half brothers estranged from very childhood. Both of them become skilled basketball players when they grew up. The names of the half brothers are Lucas and Nathan Scott.
Lucas's mother, Karen had a relationship with Dan Scott when they were at high school. Their intimacy resulted in the pregnancy of Karen. But Dan took a selfish move and went away leaving Karen and the baby alone, with a basketball scholarship to college. Karen became a single mother. Eventually Dan's basketball career failed and he returned to Tree Hill and starts a car business and makes money in it. Then he marries a woman called Deb whom he met in college. Deb gave birth to a boy whom they named Nathan Scott.
Nathan becomes a popular teen when he grows up and becomes a good basketball player in the high school team The Ravens. Lucas has also grown up to be an excellent basketball player but he doesn't play in the school playground. Peyton Sawyer is a beautiful cheerleader for whom Nathan has a soft corner. The problem arises when Lucas also felt the same for Peyton. As Peyton lost her mother at the very childhood just as like Lucas she feels the agony of him. Slowly Lucas and Peyton get close to each other. This incident intensified the sibling rivalry.
The basketball coach of the school Whitey discovers the talent in Lucas and wants him to join the school team but Lucas turns down the offer. Apart from going to school Lucas works at the garage of Keith, big brother of Dan Scott, who has been like a guardian to Lucas and Karen after Dan left them. Keith also feels for Karen in his mind.
Day by day Lucas makes a name of himself in the school making Nathan more and more jealous. At last Nathan challenges Lucas in a one on one game. The condition is that if Lucas looses he has to quit the school basketball team. But Lucas turns down the challenge. Later on Lucas and Nathan have a one on one but the condition now comes from Lucas. He tells Nathan to leave Peyton if he loses. In the game Lucas defeats Nathan.
He said that If Lucas loses then he has to quit the school team. Lucas denies for the game. But after some time he changes his mindset and goes for the challenge with a condition of his own. He said to Nathan that if he wins then he will get Peyton. The game starts and when it was over Lucas smiles as the winner. Lucas joins the school team and in his first game his mother didn't turn up as she was trying to avoid Dan. With a low spirit Lucas performed badly in the game. This pleases Nathan very much and he starts to make fun out of Lucas. Lucas decides to quit the team but his mother and a friend called Jake made him understand not to be a loser and give up to Dan and Nathan. In a game later on Lucas becomes the key winning factor. His success enraged Nathan and he tried every mean to stop his half brother but Lucas never succumbs to the odds.
One Tree Hill is the creation of Mark Schwahn who can understand the pulse of the young generation very much and gifted them with something they can relate to.
